A Day Hike from Nagarkot to Bhaktapur

Distance: 17.8km, ↗: 410m, ↘: 975m

I took a taxi from Kathmandu to Nagarkot, where I spent the night in one of the many hotels. The next day I walked to Bhaktapur. The route heads west until it reaches Changu Narayan, before turning south, downhill towards Bhaktapur and the finish.

Both Changu Narayan and Bhaktapur were affected by the 2015 earthquake, but I would imagine this walk is still possible.

Click here to download a gpx file of the route. The trace includes a couple of places where I got a little lost and had to double back. There’s also a stop for tea and a wander around the temple at Changu Narayan, but the route should be obvious enough.
