St John's Castle Walk

This walk starts in the plaza outside the Maritime Gate, passes through the old town, and leaves the town walls in the northeast corner. Then the route follows the steps up to St John’s Castle (“Tvrđava Sveti Ivan” on the map) passing a small church (“Gospa od Zdravlja” on the map) on the way.

You could return to the town from here but I retraced my steps to a hole in the fortifications and followed a footpath to the ruin of St George’s Church (“Sveti Đorđe” on the map). From there I continued up the mountain, passing a small house on the way. I think the people in this house sell drinks and food in the summer. I continued upwards until I reached the snow line and then returned the way I came until I reached the house again. I turned right here to take a ziz-zag path back down to the town.
